HSR/PRP

Parallel Redundancy Protocol (PRP) & High-available Seamless Redundancy (HSR) are both supported by Brodersen PLC/RTUs. It is all configured on the webpage, no programming. Select HSR/PRP. It is so easy fro you. see for yourself

What is the difference between PRP & HSR, and why shall you never use RSTP in automation. read more here

Parallel Redundancy Protocol, PRP
High-availability Seamless Redundancy, HSR

Both are standardized redundancy protocols for industrial automation networks that require zero recovery time.

PRP/HSR products are suitable for electrical substation automation and mission-critical applications that cannot tolerate any system downtime.

IEC 62439-3 Clause 4 = PRP
IEC 62439-3 Clause 5 = HSR

The HSR / PRP is simply just a layer around the protocols you want to use, in a fancy word it encapsulates the drivers, and make the communication link redundant. There are two important differences, with PRP you can connect other equipment to the switch, with HSR it is a closed network.

  • With HSR you need 3 LAN if you intend to program the RTU direct, and not from topside.
  • PRP only needs 2 X LAN and you can still program on the same network.

See how easy it is to configure.
